 Favourite quote

“Bhí fuinneamh sa stoirm a éalaigh aréir.
Aréir oíche Nollaig na mBan,
As gealt-teach iargúlta ‘tá laistiar den ré
Is do scréach tríd an spéir chughainn ‘na gealt
Gur ghíosc geataí comharsan mar ghogallach gé,
Gur bhúir abhainn slaghdánach mar tharbh,
Gur mhúchadh mo choinneal mar bhuille ar mo bhéal
A las ‘na splanc obann an fhearg.” (Oíche Nollaig Na mBan – Seán Ó Ríordáin)

I love this poem, particularly this verse.  It’s just so packed full of description.  It’s stunning, the language is just something else.

 Favourite place to visit

Forth Mountain, I love it, no matter what time of year.  Whether the sun is beating down out of the sky or a really wet, wintery wild day – it is gorgeous.  I love walking up there, paricularly with my aunts or my mother.  They all grew up there, so they there is some kind of story or memory around every corner.  My earliest memories are from there too.  I have great memories of lovely sunny days spent there when i was a kid.

Favourite thing about where I come from?

Coming home!  Turning that corner at the top of Ferrycarraig and seeing the Slaney below you.  It’s beautiful.

And another thing…

As a producer, I have had the opportunity to work with some extremely talented filmmakers from the South East, the guys at Cartoon Saloon, Declan Lowney and Ian Power amongst others.  There are also some fantastic young filmmakers from the South East, coming up through the ranks.  I think we defiinely have something to celebrate in terms of filmmaking in 2020, and it would be great to have a focus on that area.
